Hi, I’m Emma, the founder of Ousia Business Solutions

I started Ousia Business Solutions because I saw how quickly the day-to-day side of running a business can take over.

After more than 20 years working in a variety of employed HR across retail, telecoms, and healthcare, I realised what I valued most wasn’t the corporate environment itself, it was working closely with people, building genuine relationships, and being able to make a meaningful difference to the businesses and individuals I supported.

Over the years, I’ve supported businesses through people challenges, change, and the day to day realities that come with managing teams and running a business. Through that experience, I found myself drawn towards a more personal and collaborative way of working, one where support feels approachable, practical, and genuinely tailored to the people behind the business.

That’s what led me to create Ousia.

I wanted to build a business centred around trust, connection, and meaningful support

The name Ousia, meaning essence or true substance, reflects the idea of getting to the heart of what people and businesses really need in order to feel more supported, balanced, and confident moving forward.

Today, I work alongside business owners, leaders, and individuals to provide practical HR support, coaching, and business assistance designed to bring more clarity, structure, and calm to the way they work.

Whether I’m helping a business navigate people challenges, supporting someone through change and personal development, or simply easing some of the pressure of day-to-day operations, my approach is always grounded in understanding people properly and working in partnership.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me out walking with my dogs, spending time outdoors, or training for my next marathon — something that’s taught me a lot about resilience, balance, and the importance of slowing down when needed!
